commandForadds the--firebase-*placeholders only whenoptionscarries the flags. This misses two cases:

CLERK_FIREBASE_*variables for a file import. In the prompt case, the suggested
--allow-partial --yescommand cannot prompt again, so it fails with the missing-parameters usage error. In the variables case, the command works only while the variables stay exported.Pass the resolved

`clerk migrate export firebase` reads a project's users through Identity Toolkit with a service account key, and saves the project's scrypt hash parameters in the export's envelope. `clerk migrate import` reads Firebase exports, takes the hash parameters from the envelope, the --firebase-* flags, or a prompt, and builds the scrypt_firebase digest Clerk verifies. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
-y reads "Do not prompt", but the service account key was still asked for at a terminal. Under -y a missing key is the usage error naming --service-account, as for the other exports. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The four parameters go into every scrypt_firebase digest, but none was checked: not from the project's config on export, nor from the envelope, the flags or the prompt on import. A cost outside 1..16 or a key that isn't base64 makes Clerk refuse every password. One check, Clerk's own bounds, now runs on each: the import refuses before reading any user, naming where the value came from, and the export leaves a bad set out with a warning. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The check took any run of base64 characters, so A and AAAA= passed it, and every digest built from them would have been refused. It now does what Clerk does: maps the URL-safe alphabet, pads to a multiple of four, then requires whole groups with padding only at the end. Two export tests used KEY==, which Clerk could not decode either. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Clerk decodes an empty separator to no bytes and its digest check accepts an empty segment, so a project without one is valid. The parameter check, the wizard prompt, the digest shape check and the export's config read now allow it; the signer key stays required. The end-to-end export test used keys that fail the check, so its envelope carried no hash parameters. It now uses valid ones and asserts they are written. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…hrough The README examples and the suggested commands wrote the Firebase parameters as `<key>`, `<sep>`, `<separator>` and `<n>`. Pasted as is, a shell reads each as a redirect and fails with "no such file or directory". They are now `SIGNER_KEY`, `SALT_SEPARATOR`, `ROUNDS` and `MEM_COST`, and the README says to put the project's values in their place. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The shape check only required the hash, salt and signer key to be present, so a digest with `not base64!` for its hash passed the checks and Clerk refused that user at create. Clerk decodes all four segments as base64 (`Validate` in pkg/hash/scrypt.go), so the check now does the same, with the decoder the hash-parameter check already uses. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…rameters A continue matches the earlier run on file, source and instance only. A Firebase import resumed with different --firebase-* flags skipped the users already created and built the rest's digests from the new parameters, so one group's passwords would not verify. A Firebase run now records a SHA-256 of its four hash parameters (never the parameters themselves), and a continue with a different set is refused, pointing at the same flags or --new-run. A run recorded before this has nothing to compare and continues as before. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…t at its own The signer key was echoed to the terminal, into scrollback and recordings; with the exported hashes and salts it is what lets passwords be checked offline. A cost above 16 passed its prompt and was refused only after all four were answered. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
`-y` is "import without prompting", but at a terminal it still asked for the signer key. It now falls through to the usage error naming the four flags. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…* variables too Without them, a non-interactive import could only take the signer key through argv, into shell history and `ps`. Each flag wins over its variable, and the four still come as a set. The source's comment said they were read from variables and never persisted; neither was true, and it now says where they come from and that the export file keeps them. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ot sha256 The signer key now comes from a masked prompt, so CodeQL reads it as a password, and a fast hash of one as insecure. The fingerprint only compares a continued run's parameters, but scrypt costs nothing here and keeps a fast hash of the key off disk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…K_FIREBASE_* variables A flag is typed for one run, so it still wins over the export file. A variable is ambient: one left set from another Firebase project replaced the file's correct parameters, and every user was created with a digest that verifies against nothing. The variables now only fill in for an export file without the parameters. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nstead of completing it from the variables With the export file holding the parameters, one --firebase-* flag sent the rest through CLERK_FIREBASE_*, so stale variables could still replace the file's values. The variables are not read at all when the file has parameters. The README stops claiming a variable keeps the signer key out of shell history when it is typed in. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… REST calls" Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…hes, and export the signer-key variable Without the permission Firebase may redact the hashes themselves, which no --firebase-* flag can bring back, so the README now says to grant it and export again to keep passwords. The signer-key example exports the variable, so a later `clerk migrate import` sees it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…etry Parameters entered at the prompt lived only in a local, so the retry and refusal commands named no --firebase-* flags, and run with --yes (which never prompts) they failed. The prompt now writes them back into the options, and the commands name them as SIGNER_KEY and the rest, never their values. The test preload clears the CLERK_FIREBASE_* variables, so a developer's own don't leak into tests that pass only some. The README says how to pass an empty salt separator, the full order the parameters are read in, and what the emulator skips. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

clerk migrate(plan:slice-prs.mdon #479). Stacked on #524: review that first, then this one, which shows only its own diff. It adds Firebase export and import. Still behindCLERK_EXPERIMENTAL=migrate.Try it
