Canopy Development Skill

An agent skill for building, integrating, testing, and debugging software for the Canopy Network from official public source repositories.

The skill covers:

  • native and Ethereum-compatible RPC integrations;
  • native transactions, signing, custody boundaries, and confirmation;
  • @canopynetwork/canopy-ts applications;
  • Go, Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, and C# state-machine plugins;
  • Canopy core contributions;
  • public node, localnet, mock RPC, and compatibility-test workflows;
  • public swap, market demo, wCNPY, Tanssi bridge, whitepaper, and brand sources.

Its repository catalog classifies all 18 repositories currently public in the canopy-network organization, including three public forks that must not be mistaken for canonical protocol sources.

It deliberately excludes private repositories, internal infrastructure, production validator fleet operations, credentials, and unpublished endpoints.

Install

With a compatible skills installer:

npx skills add https://github.com/canopy-network/canopy-dev-skill --skill canopy-dev

Or use the included installer:

./install.sh --codex
./install.sh --claude
./install.sh --all

Manual locations:

  • Codex: ${CODEX_HOME:-$HOME/.codex}/skills/canopy-dev
  • Claude Code: $HOME/.claude/skills/canopy-dev

The canonical skill is in skills/canopy-dev.

Use

The skill can activate automatically for Canopy development questions. Invoke it explicitly when desired:

Use $canopy-dev to add a paginated validator view with canopy-ts.
Use $canopy-dev to diagnose an Ethereum RPC receipt mismatch.
Use $canopy-dev to implement and test a custom Go plugin transaction.

Source freshness

The repository manifest records the public commits used while authoring the skill. Check the complete organization catalog, fork classifications, default branches, and current public heads with:

python3 skills/canopy-dev/scripts/check_public_sources.py

The checker uses the GitHub API when available and the public organization page when API quota is exhausted. Drift is informational by default. Use --strict in scheduled validation when any source movement should fail the run.

Validate

python3 /path/to/skill-creator/scripts/quick_validate.py skills/canopy-dev
python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v
python3 -m py_compile skills/canopy-dev/scripts/*.py

The tests verify the package structure, links, public-repository boundary, source manifest, and mutation guards in the read-only RPC helper.
