The v1.4.0 infrastructure-components manifest bundles a kube-rbac-proxy sidecar pinned at gcr.io/kubebuilder/kube-rbac-proxy:v0.8.0. Google retired that registry path in 2024, so capx-controller-manager landed in ImagePullBackOff on every fresh bootstrap until the deployment was manually patched to registry.k8s.io. Crop's mgmt cluster carries that manual patch; the new Vylor mgmt cluster needed the same intervention post-bootstrap. v1.8.4 drops the kube-rbac-proxy sidecar entirely. Only image in the manifest is now ghcr.io/nutanix-cloud-native/cluster-api-provider-nutanix/controller:v1.8.4, which closes the broken-image gap at the source. Manifest delta v1.4.0 -> v1.8.4 on the fresh-bootstrap path: - Drops kube-rbac-proxy sidecar (the breakage) - Adds nutanixfailuredomains.infrastructure.cluster.x-k8s.io CRD (CAPI failure-domain support; additive, unused until tenants opt in) - All other 4 existing CRDs preserved - Resource graph structurally identical (1 Deployment, 1 SA, 3 CMs, 3 ClusterRoles, 2 ClusterRoleBindings, 1 each of Role, RoleBinding, Service, Secret, Namespace) Upstream release-note signals between v1.4 and v1.8.4: - v1.5.0 removed v1alpha4 CRDs/types (breaking for existing tenants with v1alpha4 CRs; no impact on fresh bootstrap) - v1.8.0 migrated internal client to Nutanix Prism Central v4 API; v3 still supported, modern Prism Central endpoints respond to both Future bootstraps land on v1.8.4 directly and skip the manual registry patch.
