docs: use gemini-3.8-flash in the Google GenAI and ADK examples - #993
Conversation
gemini-2.0-flash is shut down on the Gemini API, so the examples and docstrings that name it (and gemini-2.0-flash-001 / -exp) fail when run. Use gemini-3.8-flash, the current stable Flash model. Tests and cassettes are not touched. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The examples, READMEs and docstrings that name
gemini-2.0-flash(andgemini-2.0-flash-001/gemini-2.0-flash-exp) no longer work as written: Google's models page listsgemini-2.0-flashunder previous models as shut down, andgemini-3.8-flashas the current stable Flash model. They now use
gemini-3.8-flash:examples/adk/example.pyand its READMEexamples/google_genai/example.pyand its READMEintegrations/adk-py/README.md(two snippets) and themanual.py,mcp_tracing/agent.pyandmulti_tool_agent/agent.pyexamplespy/src/braintrust/auto.pyOnly examples and documentation change. The tests and their VCR cassettes keep the model ids they were recorded with, so nothing in the test suite is affected, and no library code changes. I did not run the examples (they need Google credentials).
