/**
* Matches a file path against a glob with {@code {name}} placeholders, and reports what each
* placeholder captured.
*
* <p>Pattern {@code gs://lake/export/{table}/**} over path {@code
* gs://lake/export/orders/part-0.parquet} captures {@code table=orders}. The whole path has to
* match, so the pattern decides both which table a file belongs to and whether it belongs at all.
*
* <p>A pattern may hold at most one {@code **}, before or after its placeholders. A second one can
* leave a placeholder between the two with nothing fixing which directory it names, so two are
* refused. {@code *} and {@code ?} are unrestricted: neither crosses a directory, so neither can
* move a placeholder.
*
* <p>Two edges follow from Beam's glob translation. A {@code **} matches one directory or more,
* never none, so a pattern with a {@code **} above its placeholder does not match a file with no
* directory in that position. And a placeholder with nothing after it captures the file name rather
* than a directory.

Maybe this is too strict? The following template should be valid:

gs://exports/**/{table}/*.parquet

i.e. if the placeholder is the lowest directory

Relaxed a bit so there can be at most one **.

But now that would reject something like gs://bucket/{table}/**/dir/**/*

These rules are to identify the table membership/name from the {placeholder} parameter. I think we can assume that incoming files represent the datafiles that need to be processed . If we are not able to parse the placeholder from a file then it should be an error. User can just do gs://bucket/{table}/** to achieve the same.

MatchAllFiles pattern can be used to filter initial set of files.

I can try find a way to validate pattern with 2+ double star if you feel strongly though.

Fair point, I think we can go ahead with this
