[Task]: Update Python slowly updating side input example #35935

Closed

Description

@damccorm

What needs to happen?

https://beam.apache.org/documentation/patterns/side-inputs/ is missing a side input pattern for Python

When doing this, we should factor in #35934 (and probably use Latest.Globally.without_defaults() and test on Dataflow)

    Basically, you can add a new example to the Slowly updating global window side inputs part. But before you do that, you should fix #35934 first.

    @damccorm I’m exploring this issue and noticed the side input patterns page currently shows examples for other SDKs but lacks a Python pattern.

    I’m planning to add a Python example demonstrating the side input pattern using Latest.Globally().without_defaults() as suggested, and include it in the documentation page.

    Could you confirm if the changes should go in the documentation under documentation/patterns/side-inputs and whether an example pipeline file should also be added in the Python SDK examples?

    Hi! I’ve opened a PR addressing this issue by adding a Python example for the “Slowly updating global window side inputs” section in the documentation.

    The example demonstrates creating and using a side input with Latest.Globally().without_defaults(). Please let me know if any improvements or adjustments are needed.

    @Aaditya-git

    Hi! I'd like to update the Python slowly updating side input example. I'll review the current example, bring it up to date with current Beam Python SDK patterns, and make sure it runs correctly. Happy to submit a PR once I've verified the updated example end-to-end.
