I had to get the source and compile with updated versions in pom.xml:
netbeans.release.version → RELEASE300
maven-compiler-plugin > configuration > release → 21

I also had to add<proc>full</proc>in maven-compiler-plugin configuration.Release available now https://github.com/albilu/netbeansPython/releases/tag/1.9.9 and also from Netbeans Plugin Store
