Welcome to the OpenNote wiki.
OpenNote is an open-source note-taking app for Windows. It brings writing, drawing, and recording together in one notebook, for professional and personal use. Windows comes first. macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android follow.
OpenNote is for people who take notes by typing, writing with a pen, or recording a lecture or meeting. That includes students and professionals, and people switching from OneNote, Goodnotes, Obsidian, and similar apps.
Your notes stay in plain folders on your own computer. OpenNote needs no account, and it works offline.
OpenNote is in early development. Phases 0 to 4 are complete. Phases 5 to 12 are built and in beta testing—you can try them in beta 4. Phase 13 and 14 are built but waiting on the beta testing period and code signing. See Roadmap and status for the full picture.
To test the beta, download the latest build from the Releases page and follow the Getting started guide. The beta exe is unsigned, so Windows will warn you; choose More info, then Run anyway. Everything except start-up is untested by hand, so use the test checklist to find known issues.
