  • version.py check drops the first-parent CI walk and the 60 s poll (ci_errors, coverage_error, is_green, REQUIRED_RUNS, POLL_SECONDS).
  • One query instead: the tag commit's push runs on release/X.Y of macOS Tests and iOS and Package Tests, each completed with success and its test job run, not skipped. A queued or running run fails at once with its URL. Release Build is no longer required.
  • Refuses a v* tag on a commit that already carries another v* tag.
  • The stable-equals-beta rule only refuses shipped source: the new shipped detector suite, which is release without .github/workflows/ and .github/actions/. Patches keep the earlier_stables exemption.
  • detect-changed-paths.sh takes --ref and --head. macOS Tests, iOS and Package Tests and Repo Hygiene pass --ref, so a release/** push runs every suite. PR and main runs are unchanged.
  • release.yml Verify: timeout-minutes: 10, PYTHONUNBUFFERED=1.
  • release-build.yml: no release/** push trigger; nightly and dispatch stay.
  • apple/RELEASING.md, the ci rule and one line of the release skill describe the new Verify.
  • release/0.82 keeps its own files and the old verify.
  • Tests: walk and poll tests removed. New tests cover the one query (success, skipped job, queued or in progress, failed, missing, a run on another branch), one tag per commit, the shipped rule against the real detector, and the detector's --ref, --head and shipped.
