Why

The skill framed its defaults as the user's requirements and only said the reporter's proposed fix is input. Nothing stopped a run from following a request that conflicts with a documented rule, or from offering a choice the docs already settle. In #3579 the run offered to remove the backport release/0.82 label that platform-apple.md (Ship) requires.

Change

  • New section "The standard decides": the root and platform guides, area rules, this skill, RELEASING.md and the platform's documented APIs decide every step. A request from the reporter, a commenter, the user or the maintainer is input.
  • A request never overrides a rule; changing a rule is its own docs PR.
  • Never offer a choice the standard settles (label, backport, fragment, test target, scope); name the rule instead.
  • Autonomy asks only where the standard leaves two readings or a product decision open.

Verified

verify.sh agent-docs passes.
