Market trades could pay without consuming items when their configured quantity was fractional, nonpositive, or above the supported integer range, and negative removal requests could grow inventory stacks. This adds validated whole-item quantities and refuses an empty removal, with regression tests for both failures.

The same coverage work fixes demand below its minimum after reset, stale menu entries, clicks on items outside the market menu, locale-dependent freshness IDs, and trade-creation races involving item mutation, permissions, category reloads, and unsafe YAML IDs.

  • Raises full runtime line coverage from 146/813 (17.96%) to 827/827 (100%), with no production-code exclusions.
  • Adds a zero-missed-lines JaCoCo gate and publishes the coverage report in CI. Instruction coverage is 3506/3508 (99.94%); branch coverage is 364/374 (97.33%).
  • Tests exercise actual inventories, YAML persistence, plugin lifecycle, demand scheduling, sale events, command conversations, and failure paths.

Validation: Java 21 mvn -o -B --no-transfer-progress clean verify passed 138 tests, zero failures/errors/skips. The runtime JAR verifier and git diff --check also pass.

Released as v0.1.6 after CodeRabbit and Opus 5.5 approval and passing CI. The official release artifact, embedded version, build commit and SHA-256 were verified. Installed on dev and main with verified backups. Dev was restarted and its running version confirmed; main was not restarted or reloaded, and its startup record remained unchanged.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Market menus now clear outdated entries when refreshed, and trades with missing or invalid icons display a safe fallback.
    • Improved validation for trade IDs, inventory amounts and sales to prevent invalid trades or unintended payments.
    • Freshness lookups now behave consistently across language settings, and trade demand stays within its configured limits.
    • Trade creation now checks permissions when saving and handles unmatched categories more safely.
  • Tests

    • Expanded automated coverage for trading, menus, commands, persistence and plugin lifecycle. Builds now enforce full runtime line coverage and publish coverage reports.

Walkthrough

The pull request adds JaCoCo line-coverage enforcement and broad automated tests. It also changes trade creation validation, sale and inventory handling, inventory rendering, demand clamping and locale-independent freshness lookups.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Coverage checks and test setup
.github/workflows/build.yml, pom.xml, README.md, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/MarketTestSupport.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/MarketBlockLifecycleTest.java
Maven configures JaCoCo reporting and fails verification if any bundle line is missed. The workflow uploads the report when it exists. The README documents the test libraries, coverage requirement and report paths. Shared fixtures and a lifecycle test cover plugin startup, reload and shutdown.
Trade creation, model and persistence
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/manager/commands/*, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/trade/Trade.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/manager/commands/*, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/manager/MarketCommandsTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/trade/TradeModelTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/loader/MarketPersistenceTest.java
Trade creation validates IDs and checks admin permission when the queued save runs. The save resolves the category and creates a default category when no match exists. Conversations copy item stacks, and trade demand is clamped. Tests cover commands, chat-driven creation, trade models and persistence.
Sale and inventory validation
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/manager/TradeManager.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/util/InventoryUtils.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/manager/TradeManagerTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/util/InventoryUtilsTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/util/PriceAndDemandTest.java
Sale handling ignores clicks outside the top inventory and stops when no items are removed. Inventory utilities reject invalid amounts before checking or changing inventory. Tests cover sale outcomes, item removal, prices and demand schedules.
Inventory view rendering
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/inventory/*, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/inventory/MarketViewsTest.java
Category and trade views clear existing inventory contents before repopulating them. Trade items use gray dye when their icon or metadata is missing. Tests cover reused inventories, displayed items and slot capacity.
Locale-independent freshness lookup
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/Cache.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/util/FreshnessLookup.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/CacheTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/marketblock/util/FreshnessLookupTest.java
Cache pricing and freshness lookup lowercase IDs with Locale.ROOT. Tests cover locale-independent lookups, fallback values and cache configuration defaults.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to b87c7

The change adds amount validation to inventory utilities, with tests. No concrete merge-blocking risk is evident from the supplied context.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 03f8c

The changes strengthen normal trade validation and administrative permission checks. A low-exposure count-overflow case remains relevant to the changed payout calculation, but it requires oversized configured quantities and matching inventory counts whose player-controlled reachability was not established. Existing payment and persistence failure behavior also limits assurance.

Retained concerns

  • Low · reliability · inferred: The new nonzero-removal guard does not establish a representable positive count. Quantity validation permits values above Integer.MAX_VALUE while SaleTake totals use int arithmetic. Removing the previous nonpositive-total freshness fallback changes oversized-sale behavior: individually positive counts under different freshness keys can overflow the total negative and drive payment to the minimum after items have been consumed. This requires oversized configuration and inventory state; ordinary-player reachability was not established.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected flows affect player inventories and economy credits, server-wide live trade/category state, and trade definitions in the plugin data folder. Administrative creation can therefore change market behavior for other players on the same server, while an individual sale mutates the selling player's inventory and balance.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — The count-overflow concern requires a configured quantity above the int range and enough matching inventory items to overflow SaleTake. No inspected path established that an ordinary player can supply that state. It is a payout-consistency concern under exceptional configuration or externally constructed inventory state, not a verified privilege-escalation path.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Administrative chat input crosses into persistent trade state only after conversation ownership checks, permission checks at reply processing and queued commit, item-path validation, and duplicate-ID validation. Category objects are resolved on the main-thread commit path, and the new item clone separates conversation state from subsequent held-item mutation.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The sale handler has no transaction or compensation boundary across inventory removal, external economy credit, demand mutation, and event publication. This unchanged ordering means downstream exceptions or reentrancy require guarantees from integrations that were not established by the available evidence.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Align configured quantity bounds and removal-count arithmetic, and establish that the exact requested quantity can be consumed before irreversible mutation. This would make positive whole-item validation a complete representability and conservation contract rather than only a numeric-shape check.
  • Autopilot · Keep fixing CodeRabbit findings and required CI, and resolving merge conflicts

Opus 5.5 independently reviewed the complete production diff at b87c769 and found no blocking issues. It also checked the test assertions and the earlier CodeRabbit integer-overflow fix; the verified result remains 138 passing tests and 827/827 production lines covered.

Optional review notes concern clearer feedback for invalid manually configured trade amounts, trimming category chat input, and the existing title of a view after its category is removed on reload. These do not undermine the guarded transaction behavior or the coverage change and are left outside this PR's scope.
