Summary

  • Dockerfile used the floating tag node:22-slim; images built before the Node.js October 2026 security release (2026-10-21) remain vulnerable to CVE-2026-111497 (OOB write in the bundled Brotli decoder), and a cached base layer can keep a rebuilt image on the vulnerable version too.
  • Pins the base image to node:22.23.4-slim, the first patched release, so a rebuild always resolves to a fixed Node.js regardless of layer cache state.

Fixes CON-2396.

Test plan

  • docker pull --platform linux/arm64 node:22.23.4-slim and node -v confirm the pinned tag resolves to v22.23.4.
  • docker build --pull resolves FROM node:22.23.4-slim to digest sha256:4b150b48b4116e2a22f2c39cc27025fbf4f153e2078fd3b14d159fdb5c7279da (image pulls successfully; a later build step fails locally only due to this host lacking amd64 emulation for the Dockerfile's forced --platform linux/amd64, unrelated to this change and present before it too).
  • Rebuild and redeploy the published image wherever it runs, per the ticket's DoD.

node:22-slim is a floating tag; images built before 2026-10-21 can
still run a Node.js vulnerable to CVE-2026-111497 (OOB write in the
bundled Brotli decoder). Pin to node:22.23.4-slim, the first patched
release, so the fix survives cache reuse.
