NEWS: move to a single weekly news post to reduce noise + only report changes to lectures and major software (QuantEcon.py, mystmd etc.) #225

Description

@mmcky

I think we should only report major updates on our quantecon website such as changes to lectures (and remove website updates)

the stream of posts isn't particularly interesting until you open them.

    @jstac what do you think? Consolidate our news-reporting-bot and have a hyper focus on lectures updates predominantly?

    Here are the first two weeks of posts

    Thanks @mmcky . a single weekly post plus other ad hoc posts (a new workshop, etc) sounds like a good model to me!

    Completed by #265, merged on 2026-09-29, by a different route from the single weekly post discussed here.

    The rest of the work is tracked in #271.
