About PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PSASBR) is a crossover 2D Arena fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. It was developed at SuperBot Entertainment along with SCE Santa Monica Studios and BluePoint Games and was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released on November 20, 2012 in North America, November 21, 2012 in Europe, November 22, 2012 in Australia, November 23, 2012 in the United Kingdom, and January 31, 2013 in Japan. It features various characters drawn from video game franchises owned by or strongly associated with PlayStation competing against each other in battles, with some single player content and multiplayer modes locally and online.

The game today

The game's reception was not met with Sony's expectations. On August 4, 2013, Sony Santa Monica announced the end of support to any new content and updates for PSASBR, and in September 2018 Sony announced the matchmaking servers would be shutdown on January 31, 2019.

As of today, the game is still played by various means within a small niche group of people who still enjoy it. Currently active communities are on couple Discord servers, that are:

  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale: The original official community server. Nowadays more used for general talk and game discussion, but still active;
  • All-Stars Awakened: The newest community for PSASBR more focused on actually playing the game, with guides, methods, and game-inherent discussions more focused on people who seek to actively play the game after the end of service and server shutdown.

About RePSASBR

RePSASBR (where Re stands for Reverse) is a passion project born within All-Stars Awakened currently led by 3 people:

As the game is niche and uses the proprietary engine BluePoint Engine it doesn't really have any sort of modding scene aside some earlier findings in the past years. This project aims to use reverse engineering and understand how PSASBR works with the finality of understanding the game inner workings and develop tools and material that will allow to mod the game in different ways like playing hidden/disabled modes, changing balance patches, cheats, custom content and more.

The GitHub organization will serve as place where tools and documentation like this wiki will be gathered and maintained. As progress is done more docs and tools will be made public in RePSASBR for users to check or for new contributors to help out with the project.
