Repository coordinates accept nested GitLab group paths, e.g. gitlab.com/group/sub/repo, up to GitLab's 20 subgroup levels. Cloning, the workspace layout, remote matching and the SSH URL handle the extra segments.

The check stays host-neutral, since a self-hosted GitLab cannot be recognised by name; empty, .. and leading-- segments are still refused at any depth.

Follow-up: listing nested repositories in the Repos panel needs git-ns/view/0.6, which arrives with the vta-sdk 0.73 / trust-tasks 0.34 line.

- github.com, bitbucket.org and codeberg.org keep exactly <owner>/<repo>,
so a browse URL is not rewritten into an SSH remote
- a folder inside another checkout is not a checkout (show-toplevel), so
account set-up never writes into the parent repository's config
- a repository right covers only that repository; only a namespace
  contains others
- gh_can_push says nothing for a nested path
- distinct errors for too deep and too long (512 chars) a path
- segments ending in .git are refused
