Description

Fixes #3336.

Add PTX ISA 9.4 → CUDA 13.4 (13040) to the version lookup, matching the official PTX ISA release-history table.

A unit test checks the generated bindings' driver.CUDA_VERSION against the table, so a future release bump catches a missed mapping. It uses independent release metadata and fails with a reminder to consult the PTX ISA release history and update _ptx_utils.py.

Validation

  • Fresh TestVenv build with CUDA 13.4: passed.
  • TestVenv/bin/python -m pytest --noconftest cuda_bindings_13/tests/test_utils.py -q: 37 passed, 1 skipped. --noconftest avoids the unrelated GPU-context fixture on this host without a working driver.
  • Removing the generated bindings' release entry in memory makes the new unit test fail with the intended message; restoring it makes the test pass.
  • A minimal kernel compiled with CUDA 13.4 NVRTC emits PTX ISA 9.4, which now maps to 13040.
  • pre-commit run --all-files: passed, including documentation link checking.

Checklist

  • I have read the Contributing Guidelines.
  • New or existing tests cover these changes.
  • The documentation is up to date with these changes.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added support for mapping PTX ISA 9.4 to CUDA 13.4.
  • Tests

    • Added a check that the current CUDA driver version is represented in the PTX-to-CUDA mapping.

The PTX-to-CUDA mapping now includes PTX ISA 9.4 mapped to CUDA 13.4. A test checks that the CUDA version derived from driver.CUDA_VERSION appears among the mapping values.
