Update from the cop-skill branch of copier-python-package-template, which
rebases the template onto copier-base-template v0.1.5.

Brings bd 0.57.0 -> 1.2.2 and dolt 1.83.0 -> 2.1.0, along with the bd >=1.0
breaking-change handling: BEADS_DOLT_SERVER_MODE, BEADS_DOLT_AUTO_START,
BD_DISABLE_METRICS, DOLT_DISABLE_EVENT_FLUSH, `bd init --server`, and an
owner-only chmod on .claude/.beads. Also adds a Taskfile, replaces the
write.jsonc permissions file with edit.jsonc, and bumps the pyright,
pyrefly, pytest-randomly, mutmut and pyinstaller floors.

Two conflicts landed as .rej and were resolved by hand -- both were real
clobbers of repo-custom content, not false positives: the localstack
service in the devcontainer compose file, and the repo-specific dev
dependencies in pyproject.toml.

The task-list pre-commit hook was skipped: the task binary is not installed
in this container until the devcontainer is rebuilt onto this update.

pytest-timeout was already at the latest release on PyPI (2.4.0), so only
time-machine moved.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

This PR updates Beads guidance, adds Task-based Copier workflows, tightens Claude permissions, modernizes development-container installation, and updates CI, lint, dependency, and action configuration.

Changes

Tooling and workflow modernization

Layer / File(s) Summary
Agent workflows and Beads CLI guidance
.claude/commands/*, .claude/skills/address-pr-comments/SKILL.md, AGENTS.md, .claude/.beads/config.yaml, .claude/settings/models.jsonc
Commands and guidance now use bd CLI commands. Issue examples support epic and decision types. Comment handling uses Skill-based issue creation and applies TDD only to testable code. The fable model is available.
Task workflows and repository validation
.config/taskfiles/*, Taskfile.yaml, .pre-commit-config.yaml, .claude/settings/permissions/*, README.md, .config/ruff*.toml, .config/.copier-*
Task-based Copier update and reject-pruning tasks are added. Taskfile validation and task listing run through pre-commit. Task execution and editing permissions are restricted. Copier metadata and lint rules are updated.
Development container and installation tooling
.devcontainer/*, .gitignore
Beads uses an external Dolt server. Dolt and development tools are upgraded. Installation adds cross-platform Task support, shared download timeouts, and SSM plugin version validation.
CI actions and dependency configuration
.github/actions/*, .github/workflows/*, pyproject.toml
Action versions are updated. Dependency installation uses a working directory and explicit Boolean comparisons. CI evaluates all required jobs dynamically. Development dependency minimums increase.

The permission dialog writes the space-separated form when you select "Yes, don&`#39`;t ask again" for a command prefix. The `:*` form is only recognized at the end of a pattern. In a pattern like `Bash(git:* push)`, the colon is treated as a literal character and won&`#39`;t match git commands. ... ### Tool name wildcards ... Deny and ask rules also accept glob patterns in the tool-name position. The pattern must match the full tool name: `"*"` matches every tool, and `"mcp__*"` matches every MCP tool across all servers. A rule with no `*` matches one exact command. ... Put the `*` after the subcommand. In `git log --oneline main`, `git` is the program and `log` is the subcommand, the word that determines what the program does. Claude Code matches everything before the first `*` as written, so those words are what limit the rule: `Bash(git log *)` allows only `git log` commands, and `Bash(git *)` allows every git command. Claude Code warns at startup about an allow rule with a `*` before the subcommand, such as `Bash(git * main)`. ... want Claude to run without asking, and replace the parts that vary with `*`. With this configuration, Claude Code runs npm scripts and git commits without asking and refuses git push: ... ```json { "permissions": { "allow": [ "Bash(npm run *)", "Bash(git commit *)" ], "deny": [ "Bash(git push *)" ] } } ... A `*` can go anywhere in the rule: at the start, in the middle, or at the end. Three matching rules produce those rows: ... - The `*` stands in for whatever text is in its place. In `Bash(git * main)`, it stands in for the subcommand, so Claude Code matches every git subcommand and every option before it. That includes `-c`, which makes git run a program you name. In `Bash(* --version)`, the `*` stands in for the program, so any program matches. ... - A `*` at the end, with a space before it, also matches the bare command. `Bash(ls *)` matches `ls`, and `Bash(git log *)` matches `git log`. That holds only when the trailing `*` is the rule&`#39`;s only wildcard: `Bash(* --help *)` matches `npm --help x` but not `npm --help`. ... - The space before a trailing `*` is part of the rule. `Bash(ls *)` requires a space after `ls`, so `lsof` doesn&`#39`;t match. `Bash(ls*)` has no space, so it matches `lsof` too. ... However, a wildcard `allow` rule like `Bash(*)` overrides more specific `ask` patterns, auto-approving commands that should prompt. ## Reproduction **Settings file** (`.claude/settings.local.json`): ```json { "permissions": { "ask": [ "Bash(*zigzag-admin*)", "Bash(*aws configure set*)", "Bash(*AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID*)", "Bash(*AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY*)", "Bash(*~/.aws/credentials*)", "Bash(*.aws/credentials*)" ], "allow": [ "Bash(*)" ] } } ``` **Expected behavior:** Commands matching `ask` patterns (e.g. containing `zigzag-admin`) should prompt for confirmation. All other bash commands should auto-approve via `Bash(*)` in `allow`. **Actual behavior:** All bash commands auto-approve, including those matching `ask` patterns. The `ask` rules are effectively ignored when `Bash(*)` is present in `allow`. ## Context This makes it impossible to configure "allow everything except these specific patterns" — which is a common use case for projects where most CLI commands are safe but a few (e.g. admin/write operations, credential access) should require explicit approval. ## Environment - macOS (Darwin 25.2.0) - Claude Code CLI --- ### Timeline **`@github-actions`[bot]** commented · Feb 17, 2026 at 10:22am > Found 3 possible duplicate issues: > > 1. https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/15237 > 2. https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/6527 > 3. https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/21833 > > This issue will be automatically closed as a duplicate in 3 days. > > - If your issue is a duplicate, please close it and 👍 the existing issue instead > - To prevent auto-closure, add a comment or 👎 this comment > > 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.ai/code) **`@AmruthjithSunil`** commented · Feb 17, 2026 at 10:23am · Author > Closing as duplicate of `#6527` — same bug where `allow: ["Bash(*)"]` overrides `ask` rules. **AmruthjithSunil** closed this · Feb 17, 2026 at 10:23am **`@github-actions`[bot]** commented · Feb 24, 2026 at 2:34pm > This issue has been automatically locked since it was closed and has not had any activity for 7 days. Deny alternate Task options after a task name. Task documents forms such as task backup --global. Claude Code's Bash(task *) allow rule matches that command, but the existing deny rules only match options immediately after task. Add rules for the alternate forms, including trailing wildcards for options that take values, such as Bash(task * --taskfile *), Bash(task * --dir *), Bash(task * --entrypoint *), and their short and = forms. Also cover Bash(task * --global) and Bash(task * -g).

Verify the Windows Task archive before extraction.

This branch downloads a release archive and then executes its extracted task.exe without validating a pinned digest or signature. A compromised release asset can execute code in the CI job. Pin the expected SHA-256 digest for each Windows architecture and verify it before Expand-Archive.

SSM plugin version is now a minimum floor (1.2.835.0) instead of an exact pin, so Windows runners with a newer preinstalled build are left alone rather than failing the downgrade. Bumps aws-cli, coderabbit, and claude-code devcontainer versions, and ignores devcontainer-lock.json.

Verify the Task bootstrap script before execution.

The POSIX branch fetches install.sh and pipes it directly to sh. The script runs with CI job privileges before it can verify a Task archive. An attacker who compromises the script delivery origin can execute code in Linux CI jobs.

Download a pinned artifact instead. Verify its repository-pinned SHA-256 digest before extraction and execution.
