Summary

• Extend the existing dead-path rule to a bounded subset of full/collapsed Markdown reference links and images, using document-local, first-definition precedence and definition-line findings.
• Avoid reinterpreting supported unused definitions or resolved captions as independent prose paths. Keep code/literal context, external/escaping destinations and unsupported container/HTML forms explicit; do not claim full Markdown conformance.
• Use merged span indexes instead of repeatedly scanning every link span for every prose candidate.
• Add 22 regression tests, an installed-package reference-target failure/fix journey, and synchronized English/Simplified/Traditional limitations.
• Add an explicitly manual, read-only Actions replay of the existing pinned corpus, with failure propagation and seven-day logs/results; ordinary PR CI gains no automatic external-network gate.
• No dependency, stable rule ID/penalty, version bump, external maintainer contact or historical-evidence rewrite. The published v0.24.0 and rolling v0 are not updated by this PR.

Verification

• Windows full suite: 455 tests, 449 passed and 6 platform skips, including manual-smoke workflow contracts.
• Linux reference-specific suite: 22 passed.
• Built wheel/sdist and installed-wheel end-to-end acceptance: passed.
• Demo remains F 56; self-scan remains A 100. Neither is an accuracy estimate.
• Runtime source fingerprint: f204d9a55f98f1049ce379803d4b282fca3b9b245b61d489091637e39aa79398.
• Local pinned Git replay and HTTP/1.1 retry both timed out during the first acquisition. Separate canonical-tree archive diagnostics exceeded their declared download budget on two inputs and were stopped before completion; no completed real-source scan or accuracy result is claimed. Logs/partial acquisitions are retained locally. After merge, use the manual workflow to replay the exact runtime source in the GitHub runner environment.

These are maintained deterministic/synthetic contracts and development smoke checks, not independent accuracy, real-user feedback or runtime enforcement.
