fix(HIVE-FV-001): bounded Windows Git timeout and skip gitlink content safely - #169
Conversation
HIVE-FV-001 exact-head CI result and governance STOPImmutable candidate HEAD:
Per current protected-main HIVE ADR-019/020, this PR REMAINS DRAFT / UNMERGED and MUST NOT be published as v1.0.4 or merged by bypass. Formal upstream Work Order admission/owner decision under the current HIVE checkpoint is still required. Fairview's independently governed FV-BOOT-001 R6 allows a separate isolated local development-only lock to this exact hosted Validate+Integration tested candidate. Fairview official v1.0.3 stable lock remains unchanged; no impact on preexisting D:/HIVE, no claim that this candidate is an upstream release, and no claim of actual Windows HIVE indexing/retrieval until operator host evidence. This restricted dev candidate cannot be used for financial production. |

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to The configurable timeout helps Git operations on slow mounted repositories, while Gitlink pointers remain covered by inventory checks without indexing submodule contents. No actionable code risk remains in the supplied scope; normal required checks and approvals still apply. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Gitlink content remains excluded and pointer changes are checked during individual operations. However, a staged gitlink change can be treated as clean, leaving a gap in the assurance that delivered context reflects the indexed repository state. Retained concerns

HIVE-FV-001 | Exact-head owner self-audit before protected squash mergeVERDICT: OWNER_SELF_AUDIT_APPROVED (NOT INDEPENDENT). This is the transparent solo-owner logical review required by HIVE-ADR-019/020; no native GitHub APPROVE is asserted or submitted. Pinned authority: HIVE issue #168, exact PR #169 Correctness and safety: Configurable bounded 5–120s Git timeout now propagates through project discovery, registration/refresh, index/retrieval Git operations, default execution inspector and Context Manager final delta HEAD race recheck. Git mode 160000 content is excluded from index/corpus but its pointer preserved and race-revalidated in fingerprint; staged superproject gitlink pointer is NOT concealed by registry status. Actual Git tests exercise pointer mutation, real fixture status, timeout=45s, default/injected inspector seam, cross-project/corpus provenance and malformed inventories; failure conditions remain fail-closed. Git commands retain scoped safe.directory and no wildcard bypass; no credentials, secret or global Docker lifecycle actions introduced. Exact-head evidence (not historical head): GitHub Actions CI Review resolution: Greptile's three P1 findings fixed with regressions and marked resolved; CodeRabbit's one minor Context Manager delta-head timeout finding fixed with 45s regression at this exact HEAD and the bot independently confirmed the fix. Summary
The PR makes repository Git timeouts configurable, skips gitlink content while retaining pointer-change checks, and aligns registry, retrieval, execution, discovery, and delta-context inspection with the configured timeout.
