Audit routine Swift and Swift Charts maintenance for October 2026 #7
Scope: audit SimpleChart 1.0.8 against current stable Swift and Apple Charts documentation, compatibility and CI. Acceptance: stable warnings-as-errors build, full package tests, DocC build, and evidence separating required updates from optional modernization. Preserve Swift 5.7 and existing platform baselines unless a concrete incompatibility requires changes. Local checklist: tasks/todo.md, Routine Maintenance Audit - 2026-10-27.
Audit result: no urgent Swift or Swift Charts source changes identified. Official Swift 6.4 features do not justify raising this synchronous library from its Swift 5.7 minimum; Apple Charts updates still list plot and 3D families already covered. The installed Swift 6.4.2 warnings-as-errors build passed, and all remaining State declarations are private. Verification limit: Xcode 27.2 build 27B48 and installed CLT are prerelease; latest stable Apple release found is Xcode 27.1. Full stable tests and DocC remain blocked under the stable-only policy. Next concrete step: add stable Xcode unit-test CI including Tests/** triggers, refresh actions/checkout from v4 (latest upstream v7.0.1), then run stable full tests and DocC. Audit changed only tasks/todo.md; package source, workflow and release refs were not changed. Official references: https://www.swift.org/blog/swift-6.4-released/https://developer.apple.com/documentation/updates/swiftchartshttps://developer.apple.com/xcode/system-requirementshttps://github.com/actions/checkout/releases/tag/v7.0.1
Implementation authorized for patch release 1.0.9. Updating the existing Documentation workflow to checkout v7, the hosted xcode-27 image with explicit stable Xcode 27.1, warnings-as-errors library build, full swift test, and Tests/** path triggers. Scope includes changelog and task evidence; public API and minimum platform/toolchain requirements remain unchanged. Validation will run on a feature PR before main integration and the annotated release tag.
Release candidate verified: #8 and https://github.com/ImpostersLimited/SimpleChart/actions/runs/40567680466. Stable Xcode 27.1 build 27A9275 / Swift 6.4 passed the warnings-as-errors library build, all 78 tests with zero failures, and DocC (job completed successfully in 5m53s). Codex review of 5b54012 completed with no findings. Final task-record update only; proceeding with fast-forward main publication and annotated 1.0.9. Library source and consumer requirements unchanged.
Published patch release tag 1.0.9 at b8a1758. PR #8 is merged. Local main, origin/main, the feature branch and annotated tag all resolve to the same commit; both worktrees are clean and temporary artifacts were removed. Final-main verification succeeded on stable Xcode 27.1: warnings-as-errors build, full package tests and DocC. Evidence: https://github.com/ImpostersLimited/SimpleChart/actions/runs/40568821947. Earlier PR verification passed all 78 tests with zero failures and Codex automatic review completed with no findings. Changes are limited to the CI workflow, CHANGELOG.md and tasks/todo.md; consumer requirements and library APIs remain unchanged.
