Hi 👋

I'm a Bioinformatician transitioning into platform / DevOps engineering, based in Cardiff, UK.

I've spent the last 7+ years analysing high-dimensional biomedical data (multi-omics, single-cell, proteomics, EHR) on HPC clusters. These days I'm also running a Talos Linux + Flux GitOps Kubernetes cluster at home — now provisioned end-to-end with OpenTofu (siderolabs/talos + bpg/proxmox), migrating my self-hosted services onto it, and writing about the journey.

Currently looking for Research Software Engineer, Platform Engineer, or DevOps roles — UK-remote or Cardiff-local.

  • 🏗️ Platform & infra: GitOps Kubernetes (Talos + Flux), OpenTofu IaC for the cluster, zero-trust networking with Tailscale, ZFS/CSI persistent storage, observability with Prometheus + Grafana
  • 🧬 Multi-omics & single-cell analysis (snRNA-seq / scRNA-seq, proteomics, EHR)
  • ⚙️ Reproducible pipelines on HPC — workflow automation, containers, version control
  • 📈 Statistical modelling for biomedical questions (Bayesian + frequentist)
  • 🧑‍🏫 Training & community — R teaching, reproducibility workshops, open science

Currently working on

  • Migrating self-hosted services from Docker Compose (TrueNAS) onto the GitOps Kubernetes cluster
  • Working toward AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification
  • Structured study of Go and Rust (Boot.dev course series + small projects)
