Rewrite in Python

Rewriting in python would:

• make the code more readable
• make detecting errors easier
• make extending the script easier
• possibly allow more outside help
• provide a good experience to learn more python

but it would also:

• require me to learn more python
• require me to rewrite the script
• lengthen extension time from use of a less familiar language
• mostly halt extension to current script while existing functionality is ported
• may be harder to implement the command execution
