New entries (4)

All fields verified against CrossRef, with PubMed and/or OpenAlex as an independent second source.

key record

QiCout26 is ahead-of-print: CrossRef and OpenAlex both return volume: null, issue: null, and the 1-18 pagination is proof pagination that will change once an issue is assigned, so pages is omitted rather than asserted. The entry uses the final published title, not the preprint's ("Semantic Memory Traces Reflect How They Were Last Retrieved").

Gall10 triggers no suffix cascade — existing Gallo keys (Gall95, Gall00, Gall06, Gall08) are all distinct base keys.

Corrections to existing entries (7)

  • Dees59 — journal was Journal of Experimental Psychology: General. The :General split dates to 1975; this is a 1959 paper. Corrected, and added the missing number = {1}.
  • DougPeuc73 — journal was the modern name. In 1973 this was The Canadian Cartographer; it was renamed Cartographica in 1980. UTP's own retrospective index is "The Canadian Cartographer Volumes 1–10 1964–1973", covering exactly this volume. CrossRef backfills the modern short name, which is what makes this one easy to get wrong.
  • Kerb14 — removed number = {1}. CrossRef reports no issue for 10.2466/11.IT.3.1, only volume 3 and article number 11.IT.3.1. Title sentence-cased.
  • SnijBosk11edition is not an allowed field, but simply deleting it left the entry ambiguous between editions whose chapter-6 page ranges differ (94--108 is second-edition-specific), so it is folded into booktitle. Publisher braced as {SAGE}.
  • Ewen03 — journal braced as {American} Journal of Human Genetics, matching house treatment elsewhere.
  • FitzEtal25 — brace-protected {ContextLab} and the {v1.0.0} version token. ⚠️ bibcheck's own suggestion for this entry is wrong twice over: it proposes Contextlab/efficient-learning-khan: {V}1.0.0, which destroys the proper noun and rewrites the version string away from the literal Zenodo title. Please do not run autofix on this entry.
  • MeleEtal25 — added verified DOI (10.1038/s41598-025-26142-6; Sci Rep 15(1):41987 — the unusually high article number is genuine).

bibcheck/test.py exits 0 with zero errors.

It did not pass before this change. On master today it reports five errors plus an AssertionError on SnijBosk11's non-essential edition field, which aborts the run outright — so the pre-existing failures had to be fixed for this branch to go green at all.

Not fixed, flagged for a maintainer

SnijBosk11: Snijders' own table of contents gives chapter 6 as "Testing and Model Specification", with "More powerful tests for variance parameters" a section within it, and he states the official publication year is 2012, not 2011. Correcting the year would rename the key to SnijBosk12, which is breaking for other lab documents, so it is left alone here.

Field policy:
- add 'doi' to bibcheck/keep_fields.txt, so DOIs are preserved rather than
pruned as extraneous. Many journals now require them.
- remove all 27 'month' fields and the single 'url' field. The url was on
Qwen26, whose howpublished already carries the same link.

With those three changes the 'non-essential fields' assertion clears, which
previously named 34 entries.

Formatting (24 corrections, each applied exactly as bibcheck reported it):
- journal/booktitle names: brace acronyms ({IEEE}, {bibRxiv}), expand and
  correct capitalization
- titles to sentence case, with proper nouns and acronyms braced
- addresses: brace the state and country codes

Citekey:
- ChenEtal24 -> ChenEtal24a. ChenEtal24b and ChenEtal24c already existed, so
the unsuffixed key left a gap in the sequence. Uncited in the paper, but a
breaking rename for any other document using it.

Accuracy:
- StonEtal25: removed number = {43}. CrossRef reports no volume, issue, or
article number for 10.1145/3708035.3736076. It also emitted a bibtex
warning, since an inproceedings with a number needs a series.

bibcheck/test.py now exits 0 across the whole file. The memory-dynamics paper
builds against it with bibtex exit 0, no warnings and no undefined citations.
New references for the discussion section: SekeEtal16, SekeEtal18, GilbMosc21,
OedeEtal17, DiamLevi20, SuEtal26, BridPall12, ChanEtal09b, StJaScha13,
BergRoed99, Mars07, NadeHard09, AndeEtal20, SavaEtal23, FinnEtal20, PaloEtal18,
AndePich78. All verified against CrossRef; StJaScha13's full title came from
Europe PMC, since CrossRef stores only 'Modifying Memory'.

Fixes:
- LeeChen22 had the DOI in its pages field and used the article number (4235)
as the issue number. Correct: 13(1):4235, doi 10.1038/s41467-022-31965-2.
- ChanEtal09 was Chang et al., 'Reading tea leaves', not Chan et al. Adding
Chan, Thomas & Bulevich (2009) collides, since Chang and Chan both truncate
to 'Chan', so the existing entry becomes ChanEtal09a and the new one
  ChanEtal09b.
- XuEtal23 was the PsyArXiv preprint of Xu, Zhu, Zheng & Manning, published in
Nature Communications 15(1):8502 (2024). Updating it makes its key XuEtal24,
which collided with an unrelated XuEtal24 on electronic skin, so the two
become XuEtal24a (electronic skin) and XuEtal24b (temporal asymmetries). The
published version also adds a fourth author, Xueyao Zheng.

bibcheck/test.py exits 0 across the whole file.
Add 17 refs for the memory-dynamics discussion; allow doi, drop month/url, fix formatting
New entries (all fields verified against CrossRef, plus PubMed/OpenAlex where
available):
  QiCout26 Qi & Coutanche, J. Cognitive Neuroscience, 2026. Ahead-of-print:
no volume or issue assigned, and CrossRef's 1-18 is proof
pagination, so pages is omitted rather than asserted.

Corrections to existing entries:
Dees59 journal was 'Journal of Experimental Psychology: General', but
the :General split dates to 1975 and this is a 1959 paper.
Corrected to 'Journal of Experimental Psychology'; added the

DougPeuc73 journal was the modern name. In 1973 this was 'The Canadian
Cartographer'; it was renamed 'Cartographica' in 1980. CrossRef
backfills the modern short name, which is misleading here.
Kerb14 removed number = {1}; CrossRef reports no issue for this DOI,
only volume 3 and article number 11.IT.3.1. Also sentence-cased
              the title.
SnijBosk11 'edition' is not an allowed field, but dropping it made the entry
ambiguous between editions whose chapter-6 pages differ, so it is
folded into booktitle. Publisher braced as {SAGE}.
Ewen03 journal braced as {American} Journal of Human Genetics.
  FitzEtal25 brace-protected {ContextLab} and the {v1.0.0} version token.
Note bibcheck's own suggestion here is wrong twice over: it
proposes 'Contextlab ... {V}1.0.0', destroying the proper noun
and rewriting the version string. Do not autofix this entry.
  MeleEtal25 added verified DOI.
