Having the same issue. Simple mods like a German language pack crash the app upon start. These are working fine on the PC port of the recomp. I don't think that's a GPU driver issue altough I am having the same config as OP.
Having the same issue. Tried with 5 mods (one at a time). Jiggies of time, skipit, asset expansion pack, bk nostalgia 64, and banjo reloaded. The only one that doesnt crash is the texture mod (banjo reloaded)
I feel my description of the original bug is bad so I will be clearer, the crash I saw and the translation mods issue experienced are related to the asset expansion mod (which i called memory expansion sorry) because every translation mod uses the asset expansion mod
however it seems the other mods mentioned above also crash despite not using asset expansion pack.
also the issue i mentioned at the start in the main repository is closed but since i cant confirm it is the same issue due to not having a arm64 mac or linux device to test it, i feel it is relevant but I cant confirm it to be the same issue
I would be happy to submit logs for all the crashes of individual mods, but i do not know where the logs are stored and can not find a way to access where the files are stored to maybe find it
If any additional info is required i will be more than happy to provide it!
Good morning, yes, unfortunately it seems that the Android version of BK isn't updated to the same version as the PC version, which is why the Asset Expansion Pak isn't working correctly. We'll have to wait for the developer to comment on this.
We reproduced and instrumented this on-device (Oppo Find N6, ColorOS 16 / Android 16) — it's not device- or GPU-specific, and it's not the 16 KB page situation (PAGESIZE is 4096 here).
Root cause: every code mod crash is SIGSEGV (SEGV_ACCERR) — trying to execute non-executable memory, and instrumented builds show protect() in librecomp returning EACCES for every hooked page:
On Android, an untrusted_app process cannot regain PROT_EXEC on a file-backed page after mprotect() has dirtied it with PROT_WRITE — SELinux denies execmod. The page stays read-write, and the first indirect branch into the hooked function raises the SEGV. Desktop Linux has no such policy, which is why the PC builds are fine. .rtz packs load because they never patch code.
Fixes (verified on-device: all previously-crashing mods now install and play, 52 hooked pages, all protect()rc=0, zero SEGV):
All my mods work except for the 3 full romhacks (Banjo-Dreamie, Jiggies of Time, Nostalgia 64) which crash even with no other mods enabled.
Even ones other people reported not working (Asset Expansion Pack and SkipIt) seem to be working without crashes.
Not sure if that's related to the same issue or not. I'm using an Ayn Thor.

* launcher: **[fix(android): cold-launch NPE guard + root cause & fix for the #15 mod crashes (runtime fix: N64ModernRuntime#1) #20](https://github.com/AurelioB/BanjoRecomp-Android/pull/20)** — cold-launch NPE guard on some Android 16 OEM builds, plus from-source build notes
Happy to attach the full tombstone/logcat if useful.
Do you have a build with the fixes I can try and see if it solves the issue I'm having?
I've managed to build it (I think), and the 3 romhacks mentioned still crash the app when selected. So there must be something else at play here preventing romhacks from working.
Here is an excerpt from my logcat, seems to encounter an illegal opcode.
This issue seems to be ARM64 related, not specific to this port, as it happens on Mac too and has been reported over on the github for Jiggies of Time Recomp and Nostalgia 64 Recomp already.
Edit: Fix is already merged into upstream BanjoRecomp. Related PR: BanjoRecomp#300

Here is my build with both the PR from Rival merged as well as the 16-byte alignment fix from the PR I linked above (so every mod should be working)
Jiggies of Time is working well so far. Nostalgia 64 loads up but haven't tested it much.
Banjo-Dreamie seems to crash a lot on the third level, up to that point it worked perfect. This might just be an issue with Banjo-Dreamie though. That hack doesn't appear to have a repo or issue tracker so I can't report it as a bug.
The old app must be uninstalled first, or the install will fail because the signatures don't match (as normal when switching between different forks/versions of an app compiled on different machines/by different people)
Back up the app data first if you care about your saves.
@Jdbye I am terribly sorry, went on vacation for two weeks (that was the reason I had to do fix to have a good time on a plane lol).
Glad you made it. Thank you for you work! 🚀
@Jdbye I tested the fix and it's working correctly; I have the "BKHD LOULOF" mobs, the Spanish font translator, and the Spanish language and asset expansion pack all working properly. Thank you very much, sir.
