Why

alteredcore-website moves to PHP 8.4.27 (Altered-Community/alteredcore-website#158 for main, #159 for preprod): its Dockerfile is now FROM php:8.4.27-apache. The altered-website resource builds that Dockerfile from the local website checkout, so the dev stack switches to PHP 8.4.27 on its own as soon as the checkout is on a branch that has it — no logic change is needed here.

What changes

The README and two apphost.cs comments said "PHP 7.4" / php:7.4-apache. The README now also says that the PHP version follows the website branch checked out locally (a checkout still on an older branch builds 7.4).

  • website/config.local.php: UNIQUES_API_URL was defined twice (http://localhost:8005, then https://search.altered.re). PHP 7.4 kept the first and hid the notice; PHP 8 prints a warning before the headers, which breaks the sessions of every page on the local stack. The second define never took effect and is removed — the effective value is unchanged.

Verification

Loading the dev config under php:8.4.27-cli and php:7.4-cli: no warning, UNIQUES_API_URL=http://localhost:8005 on both (8.4 warned before). Local Aspire stack on the website's chore/php-8.4: /, news, cards, decks, deckbuilder, login → 200 with no PHP warning, X-Powered-By: PHP/8.4.27. dotnet build apphost.cs passes (same 3 pre-existing warnings); the apphost.cs diff touches comments only.

The altered-website resource builds the website repo's Dockerfile, which
moved to php:8.4.27-apache; only the comments and the README said 7.4.

The dev config.local.php defined UNIQUES_API_URL twice. PHP 7.4 kept the
first value and only raised a hidden notice; PHP 8 raises a warning, and
on the local stack (display_errors on) that warning is printed before the
headers, so every session_*() call of the page fails with "headers already
sent" and the site is unusable. The second define never took effect, so
it is removed: the value stays http://localhost:8005.
