- Line 26: Update the runtime metadata in all three source notebooks to use the
supported Python version documented in the building guide, replacing the
obsolete Python 3.11.15 value in both metadata fields. Keep the notebook
metadata consistent across all three notebooks.

🟠 Major · Exclude unsupported Python versions from the cibuildwheel selector. · pyproject.toml:391-396

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winExclude unsupported Python versions from the cibuildwheel selector.
cp3??-*matchescp311-*. The deploy job uses this selector throughpypa/cibuildwheel@v4.2.1without an override. A CPython 3.11 target conflicts withRequires-Python >=3.12, the CMake requirement for Python 3.12, and the PEP 695 source. The release build can therefore fail on the unsupported target.Suggested fix

Optional: set the prek language to >=3.12 rather than generic python3.
Otherwise LGTM

As @matteoacrossi says: we should keep supporting 3.11 until it reached end of life. |

Drop Python 3.11 from the package metadata, CMake, CI, the issue templates and the tooling configuration (ruff, pyright, sonar). The stable-ABI target moves to `cp312` with it; nanobind's split mode takes its limited-API version from `wheel.py-api`, so the wheels are now tagged `cp312-abi3`. Generics in `MonomialPropagator` and the bench-tools barrier helpers move to PEP 695 syntax. The building guide states the supported 3.12-3.14 range. BREAKING CHANGE: Python 3.11 is no longer supported. Assisted-by: GitHub Copilot:gpt-5.5 Assisted-by: Pi:claude-opus-5-5
The tutorial notebooks still advertised a local 3.11.15 interpreter in their kernelspec and language_info metadata. Use the generic kernel name and the 3.12 minimum instead. Assisted-by: Pi:claude-opus-5-5
Raise the upper bound of `requires-python` to `<3.16` for monoprop and monoprop-bench-tools, add the 3.15 classifier, and test 3.15 instead of 3.14 as the newest interpreter in CI. Sonar analyses 3.15 sources too. The lockfile bumps the packages whose locked versions lacked cp315 wheels (numpy, scipy, contourpy, coverage, debugpy, fonttools, kiwisolver, markupsafe, pyzmq, rustworkx), so a 3.15 environment installs from wheels. h5py, pulled in only by the docs group through pyscf, has no 3.15 wheel yet. The nix outputs stay on 3.12-3.14: the pinned nixpkgs only ships a 3.15 release candidate and Hydra does not cache its package set. Assisted-by: Pi:claude-opus-5-5
Python 3.11 stays supported, so this reverts the 3.12 minimum while keeping 3.15 support: `requires-python` is `>=3.11,<3.16`, wheels go back to `cp311-abi3`, CI tests 3.11 and 3.15, and the generics return to `TypeVar`. Assisted-by: Pi:claude-opus-5-5
coverage.py traces through sys.monitoring on 3.14, which makes the coverage run much faster than on the 3.11 default of the setup action. Assisted-by: Pi:claude-opus-5-5

Summary
Support Python 3.11 to 3.15: add Python 3.15 and keep 3.11. The PR started as a 3.12 minimum (replacing #379, which was merged by mistake into the branch of #391), but we decided to keep 3.11, so that part is reverted and the PR is no longer a breaking change.
Changes
requires-pythonis>=3.11,<3.16formonopropandmonoprop-bench-tools, with the 3.15 classifier. CI tests 3.11 and 3.15, and Sonar analyses 3.11–3.15. The nix outputs stay on 3.12–3.14, since the pinned nixpkgs only has a 3.15 release candidate.uv.lockbumps the packages that had no cp315 wheels (numpy, scipy, contourpy, coverage, debugpy, fonttools, kiwisolver, markupsafe, pyzmq, rustworkx), so a 3.15 environment installs from wheels. h5py, only pulled in by the docs group through pyscf, has no 3.15 wheel yet.Collect coveragejobs run on Python 3.14, where coverage.py traces throughsys.monitoringand is much faster. The stable-ABI target stays
cp311, so the wheels remaincp311-abi3.Verified locally without MPI (
--all-extras --no-extra mpi --group workspace-test):pyteston 3.11: 657 passed, 1 skipped (the MPI test).pyteston 3.15.1: 657 passed, 1 skipped (the MPI test), before the 3.11 revert; the 3.15 resolutions inuv.lockare unchanged by it.Checklist
