Add a static evidence site for the v1.0.1 release - #264
A static website for the v1.0.1 release. It shows what was trained, who has checked it, and how you can check it yourself. Nothing runs on a server: every page is prerendered HTML, and it still reads with JavaScript turned off.
Page
What it shows
Overview
Headline, the 37-tile scoreboard (one tile per training segment), the count of independent checks, and short "More evidence" cards
Check it yourself
Step-by-step commands to re-check a segment, with copy buttons and source chips
Verification
Coverage map of all 37 segments, who checked each one, the detection-odds chart, and the hardware map
Training timeline
The segments in order, including the one machine restart (segment 10) and the one code change (segment 19)
Verifiable exclusion
The leave-one-out exclusion results
Downloads
Every published file with its SHA-256 and a pinned download link
Current state of the evidence, as the site shows it: 37 of 37 segments MATCH, all checked by the project. Independent checks: 0.
How the data is pinned
Every evidence number comes from the Hugging Face dataset AOSSIE/openverifiable-enwiki-20260901-20260918-r1-evidence at revision 96dc282a.
npm run data:fetch downloads those files into frontend/data/raw/ and records the SHA-256 of each one. The build stops if any file no longer matches.
public/data/site-data.json is built from those files and claims.json. npm run data:check (part of the build and CI) fails if the committed copy differs from a fresh build.
The site fails closed. Each page carries the SHA-256 of its data. If the loaded data has a different hash, or a section fails validation, that section shows "Couldn't load this evidence." and no number. Lines like "{matched} of {total}" or "All match" only show when the counts agree with the tiles drawn.
Every claim cites its source file. Commands, cost and release digests come from GitHub files pinned at 1049d2a7. The v1.0.1 tag README still clones v1.0.0 (fixed on main in docs: pin the CPU check to v1.0.1, which fails without the anchor #256), so the copy is taken from main, with a note.
Review comments (Rajat) and what was done
Comment
What was done
Bigger images, less text
The site has no photos, so the Overview tile strip is wider (up to 88rem) and taller, with all 37 tiles in one row from 1100px, and the header logo and wordmark are bigger.
Spacing and lines
One spacing scale is used everywhere. Header, content and footer share one left edge (16px on phones, 80px at 1280, 160px at 1440), checked on every page.
"More evidence" cards don't align
Cards sit on an even grid: same gap, same height per row, same padding.
Visual bug on tile 18
The marks on tile 10 (machine restart) and tile 19 (code change) are now drawn inside the tile, so every tile has the same size and position. Numbers stay inside their tiles at every tested width, and tile 19's number keeps at least 4px from its bar. An e2e test checks this on both tile strips at 375px, every 20px from 641 to 1081px, and at 1099, 1100, 1280 and 1440px.
Simplified Technical English
Page copy rewritten in plain, simple English (ASD-STE100 style) and fact-checked against the claim ledger: 71 of 71 claims covered.
Colours
The original AOSSIE colours are kept. All 92 checked text and border pairs pass WCAG AA in light and dark mode.
Font
Inter for text and headings, JetBrains Mono for code, both self-hosted with their OFL licences.
Footer
Reads only "Made by AOSSIE", with one link to aossie.org.
Also from the maintainer comment: CI fails if site-data.json drifts from a fresh build, and frontend/README.md has a "How to change one claim" section.
Known issue: gold wordmark contrast
The gold "LLM" in the wordmark is AOSSIE gold #FFCD00: 1.50:1 on the white header, 11.50:1 on the dark one. It is part of the logo, which WCAG 1.4.3 exempts. The contrast tool lists it as a documented exception on every run but does not count it as a failure.
Run it locally
cd frontend
npm ci
npm run data:fetch # pinned evidence files; the build and 4 unit tests need them
npm run check # lint, typecheck, unit tests, contrast, build + budgets, e2e
On a shared machine, use your own e2e port: CI=1 E2E_PORT=4391 npm run test:e2e. The evidence .jsonl files are gitignored, so a fresh clone must run data:fetch before check. CI does this.
Tests
Measured on 1 Nov 2026 at ab35ec1, from a clean npm ci (Linux, Chromium):
This PR changes 115 files, 112 under frontend/. The other three:
.github/workflows/frontend.yml (new): runs the frontend checks, only for frontend changes.
.github/workflows/codeql.yml: adds javascript-typescript to the CodeQL matrix.
.gitattributes: marks the hashed evidence copies -text, so a Windows checkout cannot change their bytes.
It does not touch src/ovl_pipeline/, the existing scripts, training dependencies or running jobs. No model weights, GPU, API keys or paid services are needed.
Checklist
All 6 pages render with and without JavaScript
Data pinned to 96dc282a with SHA-256; the site fails closed
Every claim cites its source; copy is plain English and checked against the ledger
WCAG AA contrast in light and dark (one documented logo exception)
axe-clean on every page, light and dark, except the documented gold logo contrast
44px touch targets on phones; no sideways scroll at 320, 375 and 390px
prefers-reduced-motion turns off animation
Frontend CI runs npm run check
Maintainer approves the public data snapshot and pinned revision
build-data.py derives site-data.json from the HF dataset at 96dc282a and
the GitHub docs at 1049d2a; every value carries its source row. --check
fails on any drift.
Light is the default background; dark is a header toggle. Track favicon.svg
and logo.svg so a fresh clone has the brand marks. Developer notes sit behind
a chevron. The header sticks, and the phone nav scrolls in one row. VE-07/08
odds come from site-data. Per-page meta and Open Graph tags land at prerender.
….md (Open Source Ops, fact-checked by Research Lab)
copy.json from ovllm-claims/out, built from cdd6c8d. Claim ids, ledger numbers and
placeholders unchanged; the VE-07 odds test now checks the filled numbers, not the old word order.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Keep overview tile targets at least 44 px wide on phones.
At a 390 px viewport, the 13-column grid makes these links narrower than 30 px. Adjacent segment links are therefore difficult to select. Use fewer columns or larger targets. The PR objectives specify 44 px phone touch targets. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

…ng clipped, tile 19 clear of its bar
Measured on Overview at 1100/1280/1440: before, tiles 10-36 overflowed by up to 2.06px and
tile 19's '1' sat 3.84-4.55px under the code-change bar; after, 0 tiles overflow and the '1'
clears the bar by 3.45-4.16px (REPORT-v5 P1-A).
…ecked
The existing OddsBar figure from Verification (all values from site-data.json odds) now also
sits on Overview under the scoreboard, full width, with one new caption line (odds.who).
…e only as fills and borders
Independent tiles, pills and legend use a Quiet Violet #A792AC fill with ink text and a darker
violet edge; pending dashed borders use Hematite #746F6A. No text uses either colour.
Contrast suite gains the fill-text, edge and border pairs.
… before first paint
Dark tokens move to warm neutrals (bg #1A1816, text Cloud Dancer #F0EEE9) with the same status
distinctions. public/theme-boot.js is a classic same-origin script in <head>, so a CSP with
script-src 'self' allows it (no inline script, no hash needed). New e2e test blocks the app
bundle and checks a stored dark theme still applies.
…rk) so it passes AA
CodeRabbit on PR AOSSIE-Org#264: the gold was 1.50:1 on the white header. Light is now 6.00:1 on the
header and 5.17:1 on the page; dark keeps #FFCD00. Contrast suite checks both, and the axe
scans no longer exclude the wordmark.
…ho checked, smaller than the 0
- 110 and 169 rows (and 37 on Verification) say 'would give'; the 'now: 0' row keeps 'gives'.
- odds.who: 'Independent checks so far: none. Only the project has checked.'
- h2.odds says 'forged segment', as in VE-07.
- Overview uses a compact figure: the caption with the 'now: 0' line comes first, the chart is
capped at 32rem with a lighter curve, under a smaller heading than the scoreboard.
- The M = N (37 checks, 63.71%) row is not a ledger number, so OddsBar takes atN and Overview
sets it to false; Verification still shows it.
Keeps the 'would give' and 'forged segment' wording and the grey pending fill on the 'now'
line. OddsBar keeps an atN switch for the non-ledger 37-check row.
…ll {matched}' and 'All match' need matched == total (D2)
Regression tests fill VE-01 with 38 and 1000 segments and check the line uses that count, and
that a total that disagrees with the tiles, or matched != total, withholds the line.
…go and wordmark
The strip spans up to 88rem (wider than the text column), tiles are 4-4.5rem tall with 15-16px
numbers, still 37 in one row from 1100px and 19/13/11 below. Header logo 2.75rem (2.25rem on
phones) and a larger wordmark.
