Zig Regex Library - Development Roadmap

A modern, performant regex library for Zig 0.16+

Current Status: PRODUCTION READY 🎉

Version: 0.1.0 Test Coverage: 500+ tests (all passing - 100% pass rate) Memory Safety: Zero memory leaks detected ✅ Total Lines of Code: ~5,500+ lines (including docs and tests) Phases Completed: 10 out of 11 (core + testing + docs + advanced features + fuzzing complete)

Project Overview

Building a production-ready regular expression library for Zig that provides:

  • Fast pattern matching using Thompson NFA construction
  • Zero external dependencies (stdlib only)
  • Full memory control with Zig allocators
  • Comprehensive regex syntax support
  • Thread-safe operations
  • Extensive test coverage

Phase 1: Project Foundation ✅ COMPLETED

1.1 Project Setup ✅

  • Initialize Zig project structure with zig init
  • Create build.zig with library and test targets
