On my Linux Mint, the JCryptool download takes some persuasion getting unzip'ed, and after that it will not start:
user@machine:~/Downloads$ ls J*
JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip
user@machine:~/Downloads$ unzip JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip
Archive: JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip or
JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip.zip, and cannot find JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit.zip.ZIP, period.
The unzip error message is strange, but unzip'ing does work with other tools.
After unzip'ing and chmod'ing, I try to launch the extracted file:
user@machine:~/Downloads$ chmod +x JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit
user@machine:~/Downloads$ ./JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit
bash: ./JCrypTool-1.0.8-Linux-64bit: Kann die Binärdatei nicht ausführen: Fehler im Format der Programmdatei
The bash complaint (in German) translates to "can't execute binary file: error in format of program file".
