gs add -A just created a commit on main

I've been using graphite for over a year and one thing I really liked is that they split out creation and modification to make it clear.

it seems like gs add is some all in one tool that can produce different results depending upon which parameters are given to it, which can create confusion and errors that aren't easy to handle.

If the goal of git stacks is one commit per branch (which it should, IMHO, makes merging stacks of branches much easier) then shouldn't creation be split out?

I would suggest gs create for creating a new branch, gs create -a (or -A if you want to) to create a commit with the modified files in it and then use gs add for amending changes to that commit.
