From d2e3ed14c71d056757941993cf217d6f334653f7 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Brandon McAnsh Date: Wed, 16 Sep 2026 11:06:43 -0400 Subject: [PATCH] chore(tooling): port the repo's agents and skills to Codex MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit The six agents and six skills under `.claude/` are the repo's, not one client's — a triage run or a versionCode lookup is the same work whichever assistant does it. They are duplicated rather than shared because each client reads its own layout: Codex wants `AGENTS.md` and `.codex/agents/*.toml`, and `.agents/skills/` carries the skills unchanged apart from the paths they tell you to run. The scripts are not copied. `.agents/skills/*/scripts/` holds the same files, and the two that call a sibling — r8-mapping reaching for build-lookup — point inside `.agents/` so a Codex session runs the copy it was handed. Duplication is the cost of the two layouts; a change to a skill has to land in both. Worth watching if these drift. --- .agents/skills/build-lookup/SKILL.md | 64 ++++ .../build-lookup/scripts/build-lookup.sh | 104 ++++++ .agents/skills/dep-review/SKILL.md | 180 ++++++++++ .agents/skills/fetch-protos/SKILL.md | 328 ++++++++++++++++++ .agents/skills/r8-mapping/SKILL.md | 97 ++++++ .../skills/r8-mapping/scripts/r8-mapping.sh | 94 +++++ .agents/skills/release-notes/SKILL.md | 101 ++++++ .agents/skills/triage/SKILL.md | 204 +++++++++++ .../triage/references/brief-template.md | 34 ++ .../skills/triage/references/event-shape.md | 100 ++++++ .agents/skills/triage/scripts/bugsnag-top.sh | 209 +++++++++++ .codex/agents/bug-triage.toml | 90 +++++ .codex/agents/dependency-impact.toml | 101 ++++++ .codex/agents/module-scaffolder.toml | 181 ++++++++++ .codex/agents/pr-reviewer.toml | 85 +++++ .codex/agents/proto-change-tracer.toml | 120 +++++++ .codex/agents/test-gap-finder.toml | 146 ++++++++ AGENTS.md | 100 ++++++ 18 files changed, 2338 insertions(+) create mode 100644 .agents/skills/build-lookup/SKILL.md create mode 100755 .agents/skills/build-lookup/scripts/build-lookup.sh create mode 100644 .agents/skills/dep-review/SKILL.md create mode 100644 .agents/skills/fetch-protos/SKILL.md create mode 100644 .agents/skills/r8-mapping/SKILL.md create mode 100755 .agents/skills/r8-mapping/scripts/r8-mapping.sh create mode 100644 .agents/skills/release-notes/SKILL.md create mode 100644 .agents/skills/triage/SKILL.md create mode 100644 .agents/skills/triage/references/brief-template.md create mode 100644 .agents/skills/triage/references/event-shape.md create mode 100755 .agents/skills/triage/scripts/bugsnag-top.sh create mode 100644 .codex/agents/bug-triage.toml create mode 100644 .codex/agents/dependency-impact.toml create mode 100644 .codex/agents/module-scaffolder.toml create mode 100644 .codex/agents/pr-reviewer.toml create mode 100644 .codex/agents/proto-change-tracer.toml create mode 100644 .codex/agents/test-gap-finder.toml create mode 100644 AGENTS.md diff --git a/.agents/skills/build-lookup/SKILL.md b/.agents/skills/build-lookup/SKILL.md new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..55046cfe4b --- /dev/null +++ b/.agents/skills/build-lookup/SKILL.md @@ -0,0 +1,64 @@ +--- +name: build-lookup +description: > + Look up the git commit and GitHub Actions run for a Flipcash versionCode. + Usage: /build-lookup +user-invocable: true +argument-hint: "" +allowed-tools: + - Bash +--- + +# Build Lookup: versionCode to commit + CI run + +Resolve a Flipcash versionCode to its git commit and the associated GitHub +Actions build run. + +## Background + +The Flipcash versionCode is the output of `git rev-list --count HEAD` at build +time (see `apps/flipcash/app/build.gradle.kts:20-25`). If the pinned version is +already the latest and no version was requested, say so and stop. + +If the contract change you want has **not been released**, do not reach for a release. +Publishing is for CI release builds; Maven Central will not take a version number +twice, so cutting one to try a field burns a real version. Build against the client +checkout instead, by adding the workspace root to `local.properties`: + +```properties +protoLocalRoot=/Users/you/dev/bmcreations/code +``` + +`settings.gradle.kts` includes `ocp-client-protocol` and `flipcash2-client-protocol` +from there as composite builds, and Gradle substitutes them for the published +coordinates because the group and module match — so the pins in +`gradle/libs.versions.toml` are ignored while it is set. `local.properties` is +untracked and CI never writes it. + +That covers consuming an unreleased contract. Producing one — editing a `.proto` and +syncing it into the client repo — happens in the client repo, and the orchestrator's +`/contract-change` skill drives both halves. Skip Step 2 and Step 3 in this mode: there +is no pin to bump, and the diff is whatever is in your checkout. + +### Step 2 — Bump the pin + +Edit `gradle/libs.versions.toml`: + +```toml +ocp-client-protocol = "" # or flipcash2-client-protocol +``` + +### Step 3 — Diff and summarize the contract change + +The `.proto` sources are not in this repo. Diff them between the two release tags: + +```bash +gh api repos/code-payments//compare/... \ + --jq '.files[] | select(.filename | startswith("proto/")) | .filename' +``` + +Read the patch for each changed file. Summarize: +- **New RPCs** added to services +- **Modified RPCs** (changed request/response types or fields) +- **Removed RPCs** +- **New/modified messages** and fields + +Present a structured change summary table. If the diff carries no `proto/` change, +the release is generator or packaging work only — say so, and expect no service +layer impact. + +### Step 4 — Build verification + +Build the service module that consumes the artifact: + +```bash +./gradlew :services::assembleDebug +``` + +Only build the targets that were bumped. If the build fails, show errors and stop — +a removed or renamed field breaks compilation here, which is the point. + +With `protoLocalRoot` set, this also builds the client repo, so a broken `.proto` in +your checkout surfaces as a codegen failure in the included build rather than here. + +### Step 5 — Detect service layer impact + +#### 5a — RPC changes + +For each new or modified RPC found in Step 3: + +1. Identify which service proto file it belongs to (e.g., `account/v1/flipcash_account_service.proto`) +2. Search for the corresponding Api class in `services//src/**/network/api/` +3. Check if a method exists for the RPC +4. If the RPC is new, check whether Service, Repository, and Controller layers also need updates + +Present a report: + +| RPC | Api | Service | Repository | Controller | Status | +|-----|-----|---------|------------|------------|--------| +| `NewRpc` | missing | missing | missing | missing | **New — needs scaffolding** | +| `ModifiedRpc` | exists | exists | exists | exists | **Signature may need update** | + +#### 5b — Message field changes (domain models) + +For each message with added or removed fields (e.g., `UserFlags`, `UserProfile`): + +1. For **added fields**: add the property to the domain data class, set a sensible + default in the `Default` companion, and map it in the mapper +4. For **removed fields**: remove the property from the domain data class, its + default, and the mapper line + +**Common type mappings** (match existing fields on the same model): + +| Proto type | Domain type | Mapping | +|------------|-------------|---------| +| `uint64` amount/quarks fields | `Fiat` | `Fiat(quarks = from.fieldName)` | +| `bool` | `Boolean` | `from.fieldName` | +| `string` | `String` | `from.fieldName` | +| `int32`/`uint32` | `Int` | `from.fieldName` | +| `Duration` | `kotlin.time.Duration` | `from.fieldName.seconds.toDuration(DurationUnit.SECONDS)` | +| `enum` | sealed/enum domain type | `from.fieldName.toDomain()` (add private extension) | + +When in doubt, look at how neighboring fields on the same message are typed and +mapped — follow the same pattern. + +##### UserFlags-specific chain + +When `UserFlags` fields change, the following files form a chain that must all be +updated together. Examine: + - The throwing method and its callers + - State management (MVI/MVVM patterns, reactive streams) + - Threading (Coroutines, RxJava 3) — look for race conditions, missing dispatchers + - Dependency injection (Hilt) — look for missing bindings or scoping issues + - Null safety — look for unsafe casts, Java interop nullability gaps + - CompositionLocal access — check if locals are accessed outside their provider scope + - Lifecycle issues — look for access after destroy, missing lifecycle awareness + - gRPC/network — look for unhandled errors, timeout issues, missing retry logic + - Crypto operations — look for key management edge cases, encryption failures + +4. **Identify Patterns**: When the user mentions patterns (e.g., "same device", "repeated", "after update"), specifically investigate: + - Device-specific state corruption (Room/SQLCipher, DataStore) + - Cached state inconsistencies + - Migration issues + - Retry loops or infinite error cycles + - Resource exhaustion + +5. **Assess Severity & Impact**: + - How many users are affected? + - Is it blocking core functionality (payments, login, balance)? + - Is it a regression or long-standing issue? + - Is it recoverable or does it require app reinstall? + +6. **Propose Fix**: Provide a concrete, actionable fix with: + - Specific files to modify + - Code changes (show before/after when possible) + - Explanation of why the fix addresses the root cause + - Any edge cases the fix should handle + - Whether tests should be added and where + +## Output Format + +Structure your response as: + +### Summary +One-paragraph description of the bug, its root cause, and severity. + +### Evidence +Key code paths and logic that lead to the issue, with file references. + +### Root Cause +Detailed explanation of why the bug occurs, including any patterns (e.g., repeated occurrence on same device). + +### Recommended Fix +Concrete code changes with file paths and rationale. + +### Risk Assessment +- **Severity**: Critical / High / Medium / Low +- **Frequency**: How often it occurs +- **Blast radius**: What features/users are affected +- **Fix complexity**: Simple / Moderate / Complex + +## Key Codebase Context + +- Namespaces: `com.flipcash.app.android`, `com.getcode`, `com.flipcash.features.*`, `com.flipcash.shared.*` +- DI: Hilt with CompositionLocal injection pattern +- Async: Kotlin Coroutines + RxJava 3 coexist +- DB: Room with SQLCipher encryption +- Network: gRPC + Protobuf +- Convention plugins handle module setup — check `build-logic/` if build config is relevant + +## Important Guidelines + +- Always read the actual source code — never guess at implementations +- When a Bugsnag URL is provided, extract what information you can from the URL structure (error ID, project, filters) and then search the codebase for related classes +- If you cannot determine the root cause with certainty, state your confidence level and list what additional information would help +- Consider the "same device" pattern specifically — this often points to corrupted local state, stuck retry loops, or device-specific hardware/OS quirks +- Follow the project's git conventions when suggesting commits: `fix(scope): description`""" diff --git a/.codex/agents/dependency-impact.toml b/.codex/agents/dependency-impact.toml new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..aae8663d8c --- /dev/null +++ b/.codex/agents/dependency-impact.toml @@ -0,0 +1,101 @@ +name = "dependency-impact" +description = """ +Use this agent when bumping a dependency or evaluating the impact of a library update. ViewModel test (MVI state reducer):** +```kotlin +class ViewModelTest { + @get:Rule val mainCoroutineRule = MainCoroutineRule() + + // Dependencies as mockk(relaxed = true) + // VMs extend BaseViewModel with a companion `updateStateForEvent` reducer + // Test the pure updateStateForEvent reducer function directly when possible + // For integration: create VM, dispatch events, advanceUntilIdle(), assert stateFlow value +} +``` + +**2. ViewModel error test:** +```kotlin +class ViewModelErrorTest { + @get:Rule val mainCoroutineRule = MainCoroutineRule() + + // Focus on error paths + // Verify BottomBarManager.showError() calls with correct title/subtitle + // Clear BottomBarManager in @Before/@After +} +``` + +**3. Service layer test:** +```kotlin +class ServiceTest { + // Mock the *Api class + // Build proto responses inline + // Verify Result success/failure mapping + // Test each proto result enum → domain error mapping +} +``` + +**4. Flow test with Turbine:** +```kotlin +@Test +fun `emits expected state`() = runTest { + subject.stateFlow.test { + assertEquals(expected, awaitItem()) + } +} +``` + +**5. Result-returning method test (Mockito):** +```kotlin +// Use Mockito for Result-returning methods (MockK double-boxes Result inline class) +val dependency: Dependency = mock() +whenever(dependency.doSomething()).thenReturn(Result.failure(SomeError())) +``` + +## Analysis Process + +### 1. Inventory source files +For the target module/area, list all production source files (ViewModels, services, controllers, repositories, utilities). + +### 2. Inventory existing tests +Check `src/test/kotlin/` for existing test files. Map which production classes have tests. + +### 3. Identify gaps +Flag production classes that: +- Have no corresponding test file at all +- Have tests but miss important code paths (error cases, edge cases, branching logic) +- Have new/changed methods not covered by existing tests + +### 4. Prioritize +Rank gaps by risk: +- **High**: ViewModels, services, controllers — business logic with branching/error handling +- **Medium**: Repositories, managers — coordination logic +- **Low**: Simple data classes, mappers, constants + +### 5. Generate tests +Write test files following the patterns above. Include: +- Proper `@Rule` setup with `MainCoroutineRule` +- Realistic mock setup matching the production dependency graph +- Both happy path and error path tests +- Turbine for Flow assertions + +## Output Format + +### Coverage Summary +Table of production files → test status (tested / partial / untested). + +### Gaps (prioritized) +For each untested area: +- File and class name +- What logic needs testing +- Risk level (High / Medium / Low) + +### Generated Tests +Full test files ready to drop in, or stubs with TODOs for complex setup. + +## Important Guidelines + +- Always read the production code before writing tests — understand what it actually does +- Use `mockk(relaxed = true)` for dependencies you don't need to assert on +- Use Mockito specifically (and only) for `Result`-returning mocks +- Don't test private functions directly — test through the public/internal API +- Don't test trivial getters/setters or data classes +- Match the existing test style in the module — read a sibling test file first""" diff --git a/AGENTS.md b/AGENTS.md new file mode 100644 index 0000000000..18e1f6d5d6 --- /dev/null +++ b/AGENTS.md @@ -0,0 +1,100 @@ +# AGENTS.md + +This file provides guidance to Codex (Codex.ai/code) when working with code in this repository. + +## Project Overview + +Code/Flipcash is a mobile wallet app for instant, global, private payments using self-custodial blockchain (Solana/Kin) technology.
