Can I use mdbase Connect and the TaskNotes app with an existing Obsidian vault?

I'm currently using the TaskNotes Obsidian plugin, but I'm intrigued by the TaskNotes app in development. I think my first step in that direction would be to use mdbase Connect, with a collection on my local computer. Eventually, I might be interested in a hosted collection (and it seems like the mdbase Connect app allows me to move the main copy, so I'm not stuck).

My first question would be, are the Obsidian plugin vault and TaskNotes app collection formats compatible? Based on the portable task records documentation, it seems like there's overlap, but I don't see any direct statement of compatibility (or non-compatibility).

If they are compatible, what folder should I select in my existing Obsidian vault? I would assume {vault}/TaskNotes/Tasks because all of the individual markdown files live there. However, that would leave out the Archive folder, plugin settings, and configuration (seen in the specification here). It seems like those would be critical for the collection. Alternatively, I could use the {vault} folder. But then I'm including all of my Obsidian notes in the mdbase collection, which seems to be more than necessary. And even in this case, would the plugin settings and configuration be portable? The document on portable task records does not seem clear about this.

I'm interested in this too. Having started to read some of the documentation for the TaskNotes app, I'd really like to have a focussed tasks app combined with my existing tasks in Obsidian. And I want to try the Android version when it comes out!
I don't really know how to start connecting my existing tasks with the new app.

Hi @aoberoi . Yes, I do intend for the tasknotes-app and the tasknotes-plugin tasks to be compatible. However, full compatibility will only arrive with the release of TaskNotes (plugin) v5. I'm aiming to get this released in the next few weeks, but it is in prerelease at the moment, in can be installed and tested through BRAT. TaskNotes 5 will ensure settings are consistent across the plugin and the app.

At the moment, if you'd like to use the same collection across Obsidian and the TaskNotes app, you will have to use the vault root as the collection. The type files and configurations are indeed shared at the vault root level. I'll have a think about how to make this configurable.
