Good sample data comes from people who know what churches look like and what Rock needs to show. We want to hear from you.
For now, the one way to contribute is to open an issue. Tell us about a use case the sample data should cover, or a gap where a Rock feature has nothing to show. The team makes the changes, so we do not take pull requests yet.
The sample data is for testing the broad reach of Rock's features. It should show each feature working the way most churches use it, with enough data that its screens, lists, and reports make sense.
We do not try to cover every small edge case. A rare combination of settings or a one-off situation is better set up by hand in your own test database. At least at first, we focus on the common patterns that touch the most features.
Check Planned work first, because your idea may already be on it. Then open an issue that answers these questions:
- What Rock feature or screen needs the data? For example, "the Giving Overview's lapsed givers list."
- What should it show? For example, "three families whose giving stopped in the last six months, one with a scheduled gift still active."
- How will it be used? For example, a test, a help article, a demo, or training. Say if a test or article needs to name a specific person.
- How common is it? Say whether most churches would see this, or only some. Common patterns come first.
