For the SR16 Forecast, we need launch year (2025) household characteristics for certain variables. At this time, Estimates Program only outputs a few limited characteristics (income category and size). We need to add at minimum, households by number of workers and households by presence/average number of children
Describe the solution you'd like
Add these characteristics as an output to Estimates Program. Most likely, for each characteristic, we would need:
- Regional controls
- Tract level distributions from the ACS
Then, we could follow the same methodology used for the other household characteristics. Specifically, apply tract level distributions to MGRA total households, then control to the region. Possibly, we would need additional controlling steps for this process. For example, households by average number of children must be consistent with the household population under 18 years of age
Describe alternatives you've considered
Depending on how the Forecast works out, we may not need to do households by presence/average number of children. But this is still pending so we could just add it to Estimates Program for now...
