After next Friday, I'm switching jobs (and while still working in the field of life sciences, I'm leaving research altogether). This means that I will have to step down from maintaining SAMURAI, because of course it was made on work time.
I could say "I will try to contribute it in my spare time" as many (former) maintainers said but... not a chance. I'm going to be realistic and honest here, I'm involved in a lot of other FOSS projects when I'm not working, which are more aligned with my non-work interests. Therefore unless I happen to run into nf-core and Nextflow again during the course of the new job (likely, but not a given) my development activity will cease here.
Of course not all is lost, because I'm leaving this in the capable hands of @SaraPotente , which basically wrote this thing under my supervision during the course of her Ph.D. I'm sure she'll be up for the task: after all, she contributed significant features even after release.
And of course I'll never deny Sara an ear for difficult questions! And there's still much to do, so it's not like this pipeline will run out of development ideas soon...
This change will be effective after July 17th.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
